1903 De Dietrich Type SM

The 1903 De Dietrich Type SM was a car produced by the French automobile manufacturer De Dietrich from 1903 to 1904. It was one of the earliest cars produced by the company and was part of the company's early efforts to establish itself as a serious player in the burgeoning automobile industry.

The Type SM was powered by a four-cylinder engine that produced around 12 horsepower. This engine was mounted at the front of the car and was coupled to a three-speed manual transmission. The car had a top speed of around 40 km/h (25 mph) and could seat up to five passengers.

The Type SM was notable for its advanced features, including a four-wheel braking system, a pressed-steel chassis, and a front-mounted radiator. These features were innovative for the time and helped to establish De Dietrich as a leader in automotive design and engineering.

Despite its advanced features, the Type SM was not a commercial success, and only a small number of examples were produced. However, the car helped to establish De Dietrich as a serious contender in the automotive industry, and the company went on to produce a range of successful cars in the early 20th century.
