1931 Duesenberg J Weymann 'Tapertail' Speedster

1931 Duesenberg J Weymann 'Tapertail' Speedster

One of America's premier designers, Gordon Buehrig penned two Speedster designs for the Weymann Body Company. The first was for short wheelbase chassis and known as the 'Tapertail' Speedster, and the second for a supercharged long wheelbase chassis, dubbed the 'Fishtail' Speedster. The featured 'Tapertail' was Buehrig's favourite as the Speedster shape looked more at home on the shorter chassis. The lack of running boards and the sweep panel paintscheme add further elegance to Buehrig's design. Lined up alongside the 'Fishtail' Speedster, the 'Tapertail' is shown above at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where Duesenberg was the featured marque.
