1938 Avions Voisin C28 Saliot Cabriolet

1938 Avions Voisin C28 Saliot Cabriolet
A vast majority of the C28 chassis were equipped with the factory supplied 'standard' bodies and the featured Cabriolet is one of less than a handful exceptions. The body was fitted by Carrosserie Automobile Francois Saliot in 1938, which together with the very low chassis number suggests that the chassis was originally used for show purposes and only sold to its first owner after the company folded. It is believed a second chassis was bodied by Saliot with a similar design. The Voisin badging on the nose and tail is quite unusual, as is the trim on the radiator grille with Gabriel Voisin's initials.
One of only a handful survivors of the estimated 61 C28 chassis produced between 1935 and 1937, the Saliot Cabriolet is today owned by a prominent French Voisin collector. He brought the car over the United States for the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where Voisin was one of the featured marques.
