1939 Bugatti Type 57 C Vanvooren Coupe

1939 Bugatti Type 57 C Vanvooren Coupe

One of the last Bugatti Type 57s built, this example was equipped with a supercharged engine and was commissioned by a particularly demanding customer, who asked coachbuilder Vanvooren to build two bodies so that he could choose his favorite. Chaussivert selected this Atalante-style coupe, which clearly inspired the design of the standard model. In 1955, this striking machine was acquired by Raymond Delmonte, who kept it for many decades, and it did not surface until the mid-2000s. Still in remarkably original condition, it was eventually acquired by traders Jaap Braam Ruben and Bruno Vendisse. It briefly belonged to Peter Mullin and has recently joined another prominent American collection.
