Autobianchi

Autobianchi was an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1955 as a joint venture between Bianchi, Pirelli, and Fiat. The company's name is a combination of "Auto" (from automobile) and "Bianchi" (from the Bianchi bicycle company).

Autobianchi's primary focus was on producing small cars, catering to the growing demand for compact and economical vehicles in post-war Europe. One of its most famous models was the Autobianchi Bianchina, which was introduced in 1957. The Bianchina was available in various body styles, including a two-door sedan, a convertible, and a station wagon.

In addition to the Bianchina, Autobianchi also produced other models like the Primula, which was notable for being one of the first cars with a transverse front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. This layout would later become common in the automotive industry.

Autobianchi's association with Fiat allowed it to benefit from Fiat's engineering expertise and manufacturing capabilities. However, by the 1970s, Fiat took full control of Autobianchi, and the brand gradually phased out as its models were integrated into Fiat's lineup.

While Autobianchi itself is no longer in existence, some of its models, particularly the Bianchina, remain popular among collectors and enthusiasts for their iconic design and historical significance in the automotive world.
