1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spyder Lungo

1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spyder Lungo

One of the 1932 Le Mans works cars, this Touring bodied 8C 2300 was driven by Lord Howe and Tim Birkin. They briefly led the race before the engine threw a rod. Once repaired, Howe drove the car to a third on handicap in the TT. The car was subsequently returned to Italy where it was re-bodied by Pinin Farina and sold as a new car. Eventually the car ended up in the United Kingdom where it passed through various hands until it was acquired by watchmaker George Daniels. He had the Pinin Farina body removed and replaced by a replica of the Touring Le Mans style body. Descriptions & Pictures by ultimatecarpage & bonhams
