1935 Avions Voisin C28 Aérosport

First shown at the 1935 Paris Auto Salon, this is the C28 Aerosport prototype. Subtly modified, it was sold to a customer following its motor show duties. He drove the car on the road extensively until the outbreak of the War. During a 1944 bombing raid, the delicate body was damaged. After the War, it owner had the remains of the original coachwork removed and replaced by a more conventional four-door saloon. The work was done by Carrosserie Duval from Boulogne-sur-Mer. A subsequent owner used the car until the 1960s, when it was parked in a field.

In 1998, the current owner, a noted French Voisin enthusiast, acquired the car. During the mid 2000s, he started what would be an eight-year project to reconstruct the Voisin to its original guise. The only major change compared to the original show car was a silver instead of black interior finish. Hermes supplied the lovely untreated, natural cow hide leather interior. Almost 80 years after its original debut, the C28 Aerosport made its first post-restoration appearance at the 2014 Paris Auto Salon. A year, this car was shown at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance in a special class for iconoclastic interiors.
